Roy Keane fires jab at Gary Neville after giving Manchester United defender Man of The Match against Aston Villa

Roy Keane took a jab at Gary Neville in the Sky Sports Studio for awarding Harry Maguire the Man of the Match against Aston Villa.

Despite Keane’s criticism, Manchester United secured their third consecutive win, with Scott McTominay scoring a late winner after coming off the bench for Erik ten Hag’s side.

After Lisandro Martinez’s injury, Maguire returned to the team and partnered with Raphael Varane in the heart of the backline. Neville made the call to award Maguire the Man of the Match award, which was presented to him by the opening goalscorer, Rasmus Hojlund. However, Keane disagreed with this decision.

In the Sky Sports studio, Roy Keane suggested that Gary Neville awarded Harry Maguire the Man of the Match because he is a part of the ‘defenders union’.

He explained: “I thought he did alright today, obviously some lads give defenders Man of the Match because they’ve been defenders themselves – that type of scenario. It was definitely going to be a defender.”

The Irishman further alluded to the plethora of chances Aston Villa created but ultimately squandered.

Next up for Manchester United is a trip to Luton Town next Sunday as the Red Devils aim to maintain their impressive form. They’ll be licking their chops given Luton’s defeat at the weekend.
