Antonio Conte “really unhappy” with Spurs situation and exit likely as Fabrizio Romano names ideal replacement

Posted by

Antonio Conte is really unhappy with the current situation at Tottenham and is unlikely to still be their manager next season, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column, Romano confirmed that it’s not looking good for Conte at Spurs, and he also named his ideal potential replacement for the Italian tactician.

We’ve seen a few names linked as potential candidates to take over from Conte, but Romano says he thinks the best thing for the north London giants would be to either bring back Mauricio Pochettino or go for a talented young coach like Ruben Amorim of Sporting Lisbon.

Conte has a great track record in his career, but Tottenham just hasn’t ever looked like quite the right fit for him, and it’s hard to see how he survives after his sensational outburst at the club’s board and players following yesterday’s 3-3 draw with Southampton.

Antonio Conte will surely not be at Tottenham for much longer

Romano has confirmed that Conte is not happy, and also discussed what he thinks could happen next.

“It’s up to Tottenham, but for sure the feeling around sources is for Conte not to be Spurs coach next season – it was already like this after AC Milan UCL clash,” Romano explained.

“I’m not sure there are issues with the ownership, he’s not happy with the players and their attitude more than the ownership. He wants to see different attitude, this is why he’s really unhappy with the current situation.

“Tottenham have not started the process of hiring a new manager yet. Pochettino wants to return to coaching and Luis Enrique too but it doesn’t mean they will join Spurs.

“I think the best solution would be Pochettino’s return or modern, young, new coach like Ruben Amorim.”

  1. The fault is with the manager, as the saying goes, ‘the team is only as good as the manager’. The manager is were the buck stops and starts wiith. Obviously the manager is creating the problem and the team are being affected, I feel for them, esp after that disgraceful/disrespectful rant yesterday.

    1. It’s time to take off those blinkers mate, there only two common denominators left now. Levy and the players, we have run out of the same old excuse of blaming the manager all the time, if Conte and Marhinio cant get our over paid players to perform when it counts, who can?. sorry, but it happens all to often with our team. time to point the finger firmly in their direction i’m affraid

    2. Gotta agree totally this time around, I’ve given Conte the benifit of doubt before, but right or wrong he’s thrown the bath, baby & bathwater all out together. He wants Levy to sack him. What to do. I think legally this time the Club is probably in the right!!!

      1. Based on his outburst he has tarnished the entire organisation and has broken a key rule for members of a management team, he should be sacked based on a loss of confidence and trust in him to perform his contracted role which is to manage technical tactical and player performance. AMORIM or ENRIQUE for me but based on Levy expect Frank or DeZerbi

  2. people like you are why spurs will never win anything antonio is a winner the players in defence are not good enough they are rubbish does not matter who the manager is the board will not backthem with the players they want not what the board want on the cheap get real mate the rant was the truth the players are a digrace get real mate

  5. Anyone who still uses that tired old trope «the buck stops with…» is always per definition wrong. No need to read the rest of the argument.

  6. What does spuds stands for in the first place? Misery……End his misery already he wants out.imagine a serial winner struggling to get a tune out of his team? That speaks volume of where he’s at.Neighbourly advise,(no offence just true cap) lol.

  7. It’s time for Conte to wig-off.
“They” this, & “they” that..he sounds like a Goonie (or Chelsea) fan not a Tottenham manager. He came for the money, & as soon as better opportunities presented themselves, he began engineering his own exit.
Enough of these merecernaries- we need players & a coach who love the club. Goodbye Conte. If Kane & Son don’t want to play for us, so be it…
Give Richarlison no. 9 & let us start a new era.
